Finishing the month of May!

The Annual Cub Scout Bridging!
Ben was our only one bridging this year-from Bear to Webelo. Asa advanced from Webelo First Year to 2nd year-so no bridging! I can't believe Asa will be a BOY SCOUT next year--Holy Schmolly!












Sophie (and Denny) finished the 2009-2010 AYSO season-in the Cold! Yes, it is the end of May-the weekend before Memorial Weekend, and we were Barely hitting 50 degrees! So, the girls play in coats and sweats! And the cold helps motivate the girls to RUN, RUN, RUN!!





Memorial Weekend Project!

Actually, this started the weekend before-Denny decided he wanted Automatic Sprinklers (and who am I to argue That!). So, he started digging to the water main. And he Dug, and Dug, and Dug...and Dug some more! Finally found the main-one big ole hole later! Then we called the "Call Before you Dig" number, and it being Friday, they said they'd be out sometime next week to mark all the utilities! hahaha!





In the meantime...
We've wanted to expand our driveway a couple of feet-hard to fit 2 vehicles (one being an SUV) on the standard drive! So, while we waited through the weekend, we ripped up the grass and dug down the earth...again, wonderful friends with some Awesome toys...Back Hoe Robert to the rescue-can you tell by the look on his face, he was 'really' put out coming over to help dig!

We hired a guy to run a Ditch Witch, pulling Sprinkler Tubes and Wiring underground-had that done in about 4 hours (would/could have taken the WHOLE weekend PLUS just to dig all of that by hand!) Denny & a friend started connecting the underground pipes to the funny pipe (that's what it is actually called) to the sprinkler heads-a Whole Lotta work on their knees! SOoooooO thankful for Denny's friend!!

It took the 2 guys the rest of Saturday and Most of Sunday to get all 40+ heads attached. Sunday evening & Monday morning Denny & I set up the angles & distance parts of the sprinkler heads...et voila! It all worked great!

Setting up the timer box is Still a work in progress! There are SO many programming options-we were over watering for a week or so, then under watering! I THINK we've got it right now! The kids are having to cut the grass twice a week-so we are good!

With nothing to do the following weekend...other than another Birthday Party (post to come!) we thought we'd add a bit more to the yard...


We built ourselves some garden boxes! AND...we were really thinkin' ahead---We've got a mini-sprinkler system set up in these!

Only thing is...we've had more trouble getting this water system running as smoothly as the lawn system! It has only taken us 2 months to get this system working Great-not too much watering, not under watering and all of the tiny hoses linked to the mini-sprinkler heads are staying attached-finally!
